In partnership with Primary Engineer, AEA (Agricultural Engineers Association) and CEA (Construction Equipment Association), we’re offering schools a fully funded, one-day practical STEM CPD course and free resources to take back to your schools.
The course enables teachers to deliver a whole-class, curriculum-mapped engineering project. It provides teacher’s with the skills and materials to engage pupils in the cross-curricular application of mathematics, literacy and design technology, through the design, construction and testing of a fully functioning vehicle. This course covers the safe and correct use of tools, materials and basic electrics in the manufacture of a range of vehicles.
We will also do our best to allocate an engineer to work with you on the training day and after with pupils in the classroom. You will then take the project back to your school to share with your pupils and colleagues. The fun doesn’t end there though; you and your pupils will be invited to our hugely popular local Celebration Event on the 16th June, where you can all share ideas, engage in multiple activities to test pupils’ vehicles, with multiple awards on offer.
The CPD course is for two teachers per school, one from Key Stage 1 and one from Key Stage 2. Both teachers will complete the Key Stage 1 project in the morning and the Key Stage 2 project in the afternoon. The CPD courses will be hosted at East of England Showground on Thursday 27th February 2020. Teachers will then receive a free resource kit so they can deliver the programme during the 2019/20 academic year.
Once trained teachers will be able to deliver the programme each year with a new group of pupils and enter the celebration event every year.
