Breakfast Week

10-13 November 2020

What’s on Offer?

The Kids Country team come into your school in January & November to deliver Breakfast Week.

Every child will experience cooking their own special breakfast, and find out how our food gets onto our plates.

Learn about the journey your breakfast takes from farm to fork, and understand more about the most important meal of the day through a wide range of hands-on activities.

What’s happening on the farm this month to make next year’s breakfast cereals? Farmer Tom, from Haddon, Cambridgeshire, tells us all about what he is busy doing to prepare the soils for growing next year’s breakfast crops! You can see more here!

Get a tractor and trailer to visit your school and watch the children cook breakfast –with everything needed provided by the Kids Country team.

21, 22 & 24 January 2020

10 & 11 November 2020

  • Experience the journey of our breakfast ingredients – from field to fork!
  • Make delicious pancakes and learn about the ingredients used
  • Enjoy practical sessions in sausage making, learn about consumer choice and taste a variety of sausages
  • Understand the inputs and outputs of a square metre of farmer’s field
  • Meet a local farmer and his tractor, and find out the important role they play in producing our breakfast
  • Learn about healthy breakfast choices and the Eatwell Plate

“It is so important that the children learn and understand where their food comes from and these workshops provide that valuable experience. The pupils were fully engaged and by the end of the morning could confidently talk about how crops are grown and how sausages are made. These experiences make learning both meaningful and memorable.” Braybrook Primary Academy

The children had a great time and we are really grateful to all of the volunteers who gave up their time to make learning such an enjoyable experience.
